Diwali

Diwali is one of the most celebrated festivals of the Hindus. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout India. This festival is associated with many lores and legends.

It marks the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana. As a matter of fact, this festival symbolizes the victory over the evil forces.
On the day of Diwali there is hectic activity all over the country. People illuminate their homes with decorative lights. New clothes are worn by young and old. The near and dear ones are invited. Sweets are made and distributed among them. People indulge in fun and frolic on this day. Lakshmi puja is performed in the evening. During the night, fire crackers are let off. The bright flames of the fireworks present an exquisite sight in the night sky.

Though Diwali is regarded as a Hindu festival, people of all communities join together in the celebration. Thus, Diwali helps in the unity of people all over India.
